German Car Fans is running a profile on the Mercedes-Benz E 200 NGT, a version of the company's E-class sedan that runs on natural gas. The gassy Merc has 20 percent fewer CO2 emissions than the traditional model, and half the running costs, and is offered in Germany, Austria, Italy, Sweden and Switzerland, with a right-hand-drive version for the Asian market due in mid-2005. It can also run on something called "petrol," which reportedly is similar to US gasoline, only mixed with gold dust, making it several times more expensive.
