Two lanes of an Indiana interstate already busy with highway traffic were shut down Friday after 40,000 pounds of ice cream spilled from an overturned semi truck.

According to the AP, the truck filled with Edy's Ice Cream was entering I-69 from an on ramp when it over turned. The spill actually occurred after the crash when tow trucks were trying to move the damaged truck. The spill took six hours to clean up—creating a traffic disaster at the beginning of the holiday weekend.

The truck driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Many of the thousands of pounds of ice cream—seen above being inspected by a member of the Health Department—are believed to be salvageable because of the freezing temperatures.
