By 2010, says new Ford North America boss Mark Fields, 50% of Ford's parts will come from low-cost nations, no doubt causing heart palpitations for UAW and CAW mucky-mucks. During his career with Ford Motor, Fields has proven a pretty ruthless cost-cutter and go-to turnaround guy. He repositioned the Mazda brand, led to actual profits for Land Rover and Aston, and while Jaguar's still a money pit, their latest steps at least seem to be in the right direction. The 44 year-old Fields, whose reign of terror begins Oct. 1st, has his work cut out for him at Ford. We wish him luck.
