Sometimes, two things that are really awesome on their own don't mix together very well. For example, sex and driving.
Just ask Mark Chalin of Mankato, Minn., the driver who earlier this week pleaded guilty to killing his girlfriend and another driver last year. What was Chalin doing at the time of the wreck? According to this report in the Twin Cities Pioneer Press, Chalin was having sex behind the wheel with his girlfriend, 23-year-old Amber Menezes.
The newspaper reports that Chalin was driving with Menezes straddling him, blocking his view of the road, which caused him to cross the center line and slam into a woman who had moved onto the shoulder on the opposite side of the road.
The resulting crash killed Menezes and the woman in the other car, 35-year-old Jonna Martin. Chalin was also badly injured, according to the report. He took a guilty plea in part because he doesn't remember what happened apparently. He is set to be sentenced in December.
As funny as it sounds initially, this wreck is tragically sad and serves as a reminder of the bad things that can happen when you're stupid behind the wheel. If you have to make whoopee, pull over or wait until you get home, kids.
