Shh! Do you hear that? Feel it? Whispers in the night, a chill in the air. Must be the spirits that haunt Ghost Bridge in Arapahoe County, Colorado.
Locals and landowners alike all know of the bridge, simply named Ghost Bridge or Third Bridge, that is said to be extremely haunted. Teenagers, those brave but tragically misguided souls, often like to loiter on the bridge in the hopes of seeing or experiencing something paranormal, reports local news outlet The Denver Channel.
As far as haunted bridge resumes go, Ghost Bridge has got a pretty stacked one. It is reportedly the site of a Native American massacre near the time of the Sand Creek Massacre of 1864. A family was murdered nearby later in the 1800s. Joe Carter, who is a local landowner near the bridge, says that a school teacher was murdered not far away. And there have been many teenage fatal car crashes, including one on October 3, where five teens were killed.
Land owners living next to the bridge are concerned that teens gathering there are too curious for their own good. They pose a danger to passing traffic.
While they surely do have a point, the you-kids-better-stay-away-from-this-area narrative is a familiar one to me. It involves a blonde with an ascot, a redhead, a bespectacled brunette, a lanky guy who says “like” a lot and a talking Great Dane.
