Adding the John Cooper Works package option to a stock Mini Cooper S is kind of like bolting an engine onto a skateboard; the fun/danger quotient increases exponentally. After all, the package, which adds six to seven grand to the $20,000 price tag, boosts the tiny Mini's perky performance to the level of a true sports car. Expensive? Sure. Fun? Hell yes. Scary? Don't think about it.
