Sebastian Vettel may have taken his fourth Formula One championship this year, but Jimmie Johnson just powered his Chevrolet to his sixth NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship today at Homestead in Florida in the Ford Ecoboost 400. Six, goddamn man!

Unlike F1, there was actually a three-way competition going into the last race of the season. Matt Kenseth and Kevin Harvick also had a shot at taking home the glory, but they both needed varying degrees of minor miracles to stop Johnson. He only needed a 23rd-place finish to clinch it, and he still came in ninth. Presumably, it was just to rub it in, like all good competitors.

Kenseth, who started on pole, came in 2nd. Denny Hamlin won the race.

Johnson's sixth championship puts him only one behind all-time leaders Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt, who have seven each. Petty, for his part, thinks Johnson can probably win eight to ten of them.
