Is This The World's Most Insane Sleeper?

You've seen sleepers before. Cars that look like something grandma might drive, but perform like something Grandma "Grumpy" Jenkins might drive. This 1972 Nova looks like a 40-something economy coupe, and a crap one at that. But look closer. In particular, under the hood.

This craptastic econobox has a twin-supercharged LS motor producing 1160 hp at the wheels. Mike Musto, in his latest episode of Big Muscle, points out some of the bits that make this one of the most unique project cars around. How many other cars look like a junkyard escapee, but can shred the rear tires — at any speed.

Oh, and that switch near the headliner above the driver's seat? That's to unleash the parachute.

I've always kind of wondered if my van could be built into a sleeper. There is SO MUCH room above the engine in the engine bay. Lots of room for turbo, supercharger, or a bigger engine. Of course, you couldn't easily fix the wrong-wheel-drive, but still....
