Is BMW's Vision Of The Future Insanely Boring?

BMW's "i" subbrand is their vision for the development of an urban future. Thus far they have unveiled two concepts in the brand: The i3 city car and the i8 hybrid supercar.

And now it's time for number three: The i3 Coupe Concept.

As you might have guessed from the name, the i3 Coupe is exactly what its name says it is: A coupe version of the i3 we've already seen. It also looks closer to a production version. The amount of glass has been reduced and the styling is a bit more restrained. Which means it's more boring.

Like the i3, the i3 Coupe has power from a 170 horsepower/184 pound foot rear mounted electric motor. Batteries are positioned low for a better center of gravity. Now, that's all well and good, but the original concept was actually kind of daring and looked super futuristic. With this latest iteration, the i3 is starting to look like the cars we see on the roads everyday.

That's kind of upsetting, because we're ready to see something truly amazing and revolutionary looking on the road in this category.

We will get a closer look and see if the i3 Coupe is as boring as we think it is.
