Aah, little Hyundai is growing up. It seems like only yesterday we were pounding our fist on the steering wheel of our '88 Excel (four-speed), begging it to hit highway speed before that oncoming Buick LeSabre cleaved us in twain. Now, according to the Detroit Free Press the company is planning a halo car that would paint the brand with a racing stripe. The sports model would be priced under $25,000 and would likely be a front driver based on the Tiburon, though the company isn't ruling out a more powerful rear-drive model. A decision will be likely within six months, not ironically the same time horizon as the Excel's zero-to-60 sprint.
