I understand 986 horsepower, but what do those buttons do on the steering wheel? And can I ignore those bloody warning messages? Here are all the answers, in case you suddenly find yourself in a P1 GTR.


Autocar got the first drive of the track-only McLaren P1 GTR and ended up making the lamest car video I've seen in a long time. No worries though, because McLaren Automotive's Chief Test Driver and overall badass Chris Goodwin is here to save the day.

Pointing out the air-conditioning, the start button, redundant sensor feedback, the meaning of colors, plus everything you should know about those flappy paddles and the DRS.

Remember: Your GTR will only go into reverse if you put it in neutral using the button, then hold the downshift paddle!
