Back in the day, everything was just better (nobody mention segregation). Life was simpler, cars were simpler, and because simple simple simple everything was easier to explain. We've already seen how easy it is to explain how suspension and transmissions work, but let's go for a bit of a tougher concept.
Power steering is one of those tougher concepts, at least for me. Suspensions? Well that's just bendy bits of metal. Transmissions? Well that's just gears in a box. Easy peasy. But power steering is ridiculous. You mean to tell me that using some sort of fluid somehow makes it easier for me to turn my steering wheel?
You crazy.
Well apparently the world is not crazy, because a hydraulic system is how (most) power steering works. Sure, there are a lot of electric systems nowadays, but most cars still use hydraulics to turn the front wheels hither and yon.
So, as everything was just so goshdarn simple back in the day (again, no one mention segregation), somebody took it upon themselves to create a simple video that would simply explain power steering, simply. And that somebody was the United States Army, which was segregated (dammit).
Kick back, and let the beautiful warmth of knowledge and power steering fluid flow all over you. Everything will just seem so goshdarn simple. Even if it wasn't.
