Here's What It's Like To Blast Through The Skies As A Fighter Jet Tourist

I get it. You’ve scuba dived at the Great Barrier Reef. You’ve climbed Mount Everest...twice. You’ve gotten a table at Dorsia on a Friday night without making a reservation, something Patrick Bateman couldn’t even pull off. And now you’ve turned your attention to fighter jets because everything in life is too boring. And too cheap.

MigFlug, a company that offers people a chance to fly around in a fighter jet, has something called the Edge of Space Flight program. It’s where a person can take a MiG-29 Fulcrum up, up, up to the tippy top of the world and spin around for a bit. It’ll only cost you €16,500 (about $18,560).

In the caption for a promotional video, MigFlug notes that this particular 50-minute flight is special because it has a bunch of “unique characteristics that can’t be experienced elsewhere,” which include:

  • Supersonic flying with a top speed of up to Mach 1.9
  • A 65,000-foot altitude
  • Aerobatic maneuvers that will pull over nine Gs
  • They might let you play around with the stick a bit

If this sounds interesting, you’ll also need to add a plane ticket to Moscow to your list of expenses, because that’s where the airbase is.

And be sure to stay conscious during the aerobatics. Can’t have you passing out from the G-force and wasting all that money.
