Here Are All The New Cars You're Looking Forward To In 2024
With all the new models coming in the next year or two, its time to see who's excited for whats coming.
From EVs to pickups and sedans, there are more than a few new models expected to hit the street in the coming year or two. Of course we're definitely excited to get a look at what's coming, but what the what public is excited for matters more.
Last week we asked readers what new cars they were looking forward to. These were their answers.
VW ID Buzz
The VW Id Buzz cannot get here soon enough, or really, any practical, normal, straight forward EV family van / car.
Generally, I am also most excited for EVs in general to just become "normal" cars. Enough with only having the two options of EVs of super luxo-barge or hyper futuristic wonky look at me I'm electric car (hyundai, mostly... why oh why did they kill the eGolf... it was fantastic). Related, I'm excited for EV interiors to return to normal car interiors – no more giant screens and spartan, hyper futuristic furnishings, but manual, tactile controls.

None, Because You Have To Pay To Play
None, really. Especially since manual transmissions are relegated to upper trim levels and high performance models. Anything affordable is usually saddled with a slush box or CVT. It's great that Toyota still put a manual in the new Tacoma, but I imagine you can't get one for less than $40k.

Volvo EX30
Not the fast AF one we keep reading about, the stripped bare experience that will finally make the cheap-fast-good triad mostly true for an EV.
It is just packaged mass market appeal that doesn't make me cringe, and I'm excited.
But also, the fast AF one will probably be great, so that's good.

Nothing
I can't really think of any upcoming cars that I'm really looking forward to. I started to get my hopes up that Lotus was going to bring it full circle and produce the spiritual successor to the Tesla Roadster that Tesla never will, but the other vehicles they've announced have shown that they don't give a shit about "simply and add lightness" anymore.
Honestly, I feel like I'm looking more forward to vehicles from other countries turning 25 years old than I am anything we'll be able to buy brand new here in the next ten years. Too many nannies, too much ADAS-is-life, too tall, too heavy, too angry-looking for no good reason and too damn expensive. I want a new S-10, roughly the same size as the 80's S-10s and with similar features. I want a new Miata without iActivsense. I want the drivetrain from a Tesla Model 3 dropped in a vehicle that doesn't suck the life out of driving it. I want a Mazda 6 wagon with a 6-speed.

The Subaru Forester Hybrid
Subaru finally doing a proper hybrid in the U.S. in the Forester, they had the plug-in Crosstrek hybrid but it was a lot of money and compromises. A Subaru with great around town mileage would be really nice, would like to see it trickle out to the Outback and Crosstrek too.

Honda Prelude
Will be a day one purchase for me.
While Honda hasn't actually say whether or not they plan to build this thing, here's to hoping they will.

Toyota’s Continued Hybrid Push
I might be alone in this (actually, I'm almost certain), but with Toyota's continued push for hybridization, I'm excited to see what the next generation of Corolla is going to look like. Hopefully they continue with what the did with the Camry, both with the updated handsome corporate styling and having every trim level a hybrid. If they keep it relatively inexpensive, it will be nice to have another small, affordable hybrid that gets good gas mileage even on the most basic trim.

Fiat 500e
I'm glad that a reasonably priced EV is finally coming to the states that isn't a 4 door crossover suv.

What Dodge And Chrysler Have Coming
I am definitely looking forward to the new Dodge Charger/Challenger for a lot of the reasons you stated. Curious to see how the ICE car's front end will differ from the EV with the "R-wing".
Also curious to see what Chrysler is going to be up to next year. With the 300 gone, and the Airflow sent back to the drawing board... what is Chrysler going to be cooking up? A sedan based on the Charger/Challenger EV/ICE? A crossover similar to the Airflow? Or will Chrysler be dead and the Pacifica rebadged as a Dodge?
