Ugh, this is pretty awful. A Brea, CA 20-year-old borrowed his friend's motorcycle, drove it into the street, and very quickly veered into oncoming traffic, where he was hit by a Mercedes SUV. He had no helmet on, and witnesses say no lights on, either.
You'd think it hardly needs to be said, but riding a motorcycle is not easy. There's a reason you wear a helmet on one, and there's also a reason why your first attempt on one should be in a parking lot or something as opposed to a traffic-filled street.
As sad as it was, this was an avoidable tragedy. The lessons are obvious, but worth remembering. Be safe, everyone. It's possible to be safe and ride a motorcycle, of course, but it does take some preparation.
