What happened to GM's plan to to weed out repeated models and sharpen its brand focus? We'll, everyone knows it'll take time and several rounds of lip service to make Pontiac a true performance-only marque. In the mean time, we can face down a chain gang's worth of new GM sport wagons, including the 2006 Pontiac Torrent, a (surprise!) sporty, Pontiac-branded version of the Chevrolet Equinox. After that, AutoWeek points out, GM's raft of car-based SUV-wagons will be packed from bow to stern by 2009 — part of a plan to more than double sales of such crossover models from 300,000 in 2004 to 800,000 by decade's end.
