Raise your hands if you think the cure to GM's sales slump and weakening market position is more brand homogeneity. The Detroit News is reporting that the company's marketing folk are planning to plaster the GM corporate logo on every car and truck it sells in North America. It's an idea that probably looks great in PowerPoint, with 3D charts of data culled from reams of expensive brand research. Still, we don't see how being "backed" by a huge conglomerate is going to make an unappealing car more desirable. But what do we know. Our focus group consists of a guy who hasn't shaven yet.
