Just a quick word on Saab's late-cycle freshening of its 9-5 flagship, ahead of its complete redesign for 2008. It doesn't look like much in the photos, but the aggressive new face and a tasteful posterior tapering have done a lot for the fiver. It looks like a proper sport coupe now, and even (at some angles) evokes a time when Saab's designs were far more distinctive. (Wither the 99 Turbo?) Still, the best an enthusiast can hope for is the 260hp Aero version, which makes it kind of a weak-limbed player on a competitive performance field. But greenies will make up for the love lack, as the company will offer a bi-power (gasoline or ethanol) engine in some markets.
