Ford revealed the Escape-based Equator concept it's unveiling to the cameraphone-clicking masses in Tokyo this week. The concept takes the normally staid Escape in a sporting direction, with a sleeker body treatment and skirting that screams, "crack me on a high curb." Power comes from Ford's Duratec 30 engine the 24-valve, 3.0-liter V6, producing around 200hp and 265 lb-ft of torque — envisioned to be channeled through a six-speed computer-controlled autobox and Intelligent 4WD System, with a computer-controlled clutch that engages the rear wheels as needed.
