Prospective buyers of 2006 Fords, mournfully clutching cardboard boxes of personal effects and pilfered office supplies, have been humiliatingly escorted from the building (sorry, we lived through a dozen rounds of dot-com layoffs). Ford announced yesterday it had removed new models, like the 2006 Fusion sedan, from its employee discount plan, which it recently said it would retain on 2005 models through Oct. 3. The company also added a $1000 rebate to a few 2005 models, though not the Mustang, the Five Hundred/Freestyle, or Escape Hybrid.
