While cord-cutters probably spend most of their TV time on streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, a good OTA antenna is still an essential piece of gear for anyone looking to break ties with their cable provider. The Mohu Leaf is consistently considered one of the best options out there, and the amplified version is on sale for an all-time low price today.

The Leaf was Lifehacker readers' favorite antenna by a huge margin, and Alan Henry wrote aglowing review as well. It's might not get the job done if you live in a rural area (here's a guideto help you find out), but if you live in or near a city, it should pull in all of the major local stations with little difficulty.

This is the amplified version of the Leaf, which should give you a few extra miles of range over the standard leaf, and clear up any channels that don't come through consistently with a passive antenna. It sells almost exclusively in the $60-$70 range, but today only, you can grab one for $49. This is a Gold Box deal, meaning the price is only good until the end of the day, but it's subject to sell out early as well. [Amazon]

Bonus: In what is surely a complete coincidence, the AmazonBasics amplified HDTV antenna has also dropped to $44 today, down from its usual $55 price tag. It looks nearly identical to the Leaf, save for some subtle antenna lines, and has a similar review average. Antennas are tough to recommend, because performance depends so much on location, but it might be worth buying both, and returning whichever one pulls in fewer channels.

It's not even Black Friday yet, but we might have already found the most obvious deal of the holiday shopping season. If you're an Amazon Prime member, and you buy $45 in Amazon Gift Cards, you'll get a $10 credit added to your account. That's free money, folks.

Your easiest option here is to get a 3-pack of $15 cards (note that they MUST be the Holiday-branded cards pictured), but you can get higher denominations if you want to give them away as gifts. Just enter code HOLIDAYGCS at checkout to get the deal. Weirdly, you have to be a "new" gift card customer, meaning you haven't previously ordered any gift cards from Amazon, but you could skirt around this by just creating a new account and signing up for a Prime 30 day free trial, so there's really no excuse to miss out on this.

The only other real caveat is that you have to spend the $10 credit before the end of the year, but with Black Friday around the corner, I don't think you'll have any trouble with that. The gift cards, of course, never expire. [ Amazon]

DISCUSSION

Does anyone have, or can anyone guide me to a dashcam that doesn't have a screen and is as small as possible with equal quality as these cams with screens? I just want to permanently mount the cam in my car and have it record whenever I start it and have it be small enough so that I don't see it. Ideally, if I ever had to show someone a video from it on the spot, I'd be able to plug the cam into my phone via USB cable and pull up the file (those built in screens appear useless for that purpose anyway).

I just can't help but feel that a bulk of the size and expense on these cameras is the screen.
