The latest episode of the Beeb's other driving show saw Tiff race the new Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera head-to-head against Brit superbike racer Leon Haslam on a Ducati 1098. It's similar to an earlier match-up Final Gear ran between the standard Gallardo and a Ducati 999. That time the Ducati won by a hair. We won't spoil the ending for this particular run. I'm curious...I know it probably wouldn't make much of a difference, but how much time do you suppose the Lambo lost in the slalom because there was a passenger in the car? Obviously not 3 seconds, but 1 second maybe?
Also, what are the odds that Tiff could have made more time through the esses if he weren't right on the tail of the bike? Did he back off to avoid hitting him, thus losing time and any chance to regain the lead?
I guess to be totally fair they should run them 'round the track individually, then compare their times. But that doesn't make for good TV.
