Fiat 126 With One Liter Yamaha Engine Is A High Revving Monster

There is nothing monstrous about a stock Fiat 126. This 126 left the factory in 1989 with a tiny 24 horsepower engine and took a painful 33 seconds to go from 0-60. As you can see from the above video, this Fiat has been "slightly" modified from its stock form.

Thanks to a 1000cc Yamaha FZR engine that produces 145 horsepower this little car is now capable of a 3.5 second 0-60 time and can hit 150mph. Although those kinds of speeds in the tiny Fiat are likely a little terrifying, the high revving trip into triple digit MPH sure looks and sounds like fun.

Where there was once a 4 speed manual transmission is now a sequential Yamaha five-speed close-ratio unit. The stock rear end has been replaced with "a bespoke chain and sprocket system with a homebrew propshaft and modified limited-slip differential from a Toyota Celica GT4." This setup is certainly beyond what Fiat engineers ever could have dreamed for the car.

According to Pistonheads, where we found this wild car, the Fiat was put together by an engineer who is no stranger to putting large motorcycle engines in small cars. Accordingly the owner has decided to move on to the next project and this 126 is currently for sale at a price of £9,995. To us this seems like a pretty reasonable price for some serious small car insanity.
