Exploring New York In the Post-Sandy Pitch Black
"Haha, we're descending into the darkness! It's like the Twilight Zone." The old guy going home to Greenwich Village laughs. The Fifth Avenue bus soars past 34th street heading to 14th. The last of the street lights goes out. I am going down from my warm, bright, internet-filled Upper West Side apartment to blacked-out Manhattan south of 34th street. It is unbelievable.
