Did Nissan Use The Safety Dance In This Pickup Truck Promo Interview?

Nissan Executive Design Director Mamoru Aoki and product planner Keno Kato have a lot of interesting things to say about the 2015 Nissan Navara (which I still think is the new Frontier). But the background music in their video sounds exactly like a modernized remix of The Safety Dance. Am I crazy?

Since you're probably not going to be able to focus over all that auditory awesomeness either, here's the briefing Nissan sent along with the video:

The all-new Nissan NP300 is the 12th generation of its hard-working pickup, embodying a rich lineage with 80 years of global pickup truck know-how and legendary reliability.

Nissan Executive Design Director Mamoru Aoki says the starting point of designing the all-new pickup was to ensure customers not only have a vehicle that is reliable, but also modern and stylish.

"Our challenge this time was to figure out how to combine toughness with an attractive exterior design and a smart interior. The new Nissan NP300 is a car that expresses these three elements at the same time," said Aoki.

In this highly demanding segment, Nissan now offers a pickup that is tough and smart, with new levels of comfort, convenience and advanced technologies presented in a dynamic and modern styling.

Nissan's signature "V-motion" motif flows from the grille and into the hood through to the massively sculpted fenders.

The all-new model also boasts highly competitive fuel economy, improved acceleration and easier operation, fitted in a lightweight and durable frame.

Nissan Corporate Vice President of Product Planning Keno Kato says one of the key aspects that the engineering team focused on was comfort.

"Customers today really need comfort, but comfort in any road condition, in any situation, that's not so easy," said Kato.

"It was tested in various markets, various road conditions. Key for comfort is a comfortable interior, supported by zero-gravity seats".

The NP300 will be introduced with many features that are a first in the one-tonne pickup segment, including LED Head lamps, rear ventilation for passengers in the backseat as well as push button engine start key.
