The offseason lets top racers try more offbeat championships, including big names from big series—sometimes with big tempers! This French-national ice racing series Trophée Andros event ended with a punch from ex-Formula One racer Olivier Panis thrown at Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters driver Adrien Tambay.
Gather ‘round, my friends, and let us share in the madness of this ice racing fight.
Panis and Tambay collided on the exit of the very last corner of the race at Alpe d’Huez, setting off Panis’ temper, reports WTF1. Panis then did what any total maniac would do after the race and charged after Tambay, taking a swing at his helmet. Both drivers were excluded from the race result because of this frosty melee.
The camera cut shortly after the punch was thrown, but this definitely takes the prize as the most festive racing fight I’ve seen all year. I’ve got visions of sugar plums kicking each other in the stems in my head.
Speaking of big names, the race was won by none other than Haas F1 racer Romain Grosjean in a Renault Clio. Merry Haas-mas, everyone!
