El Tiburon Was One of the Past's Cars of the Future

A recent installment of the Modesto Bee's "My Favorite Car" column features a 1958 El Tiburon, an almost completely forgotten vehicle of the late-1950s space-age style era. The car was created by Henry Covington of Florida, who built eight of the bodies and put them on Renault frames. The only known example, a home-built version created from a body bought from Covington's widow in the early 1960s, remains in private ownership.
