File it under the category of "things you could never get away with in America"; these are pictures of a street-legal, former military, armored reconnaissance fighting vehicle street-parked in Russia. We love this country.

These pictures leave you with more questions than answers, so here is what we do know. The vehicle you see here is legal to be operated on public streets. It was spotted in the port of Vladivostok, Russia's largest port. According to EnglishRussia these pictures were taken when the owner stopped to have a meal in the center of Vladivostok.

The entry and exit method is still up the side of the vehicle and through a hatch mounted on the top. The vehicle is equipped with GPS, so the driver won't get lost or can avoid traffic ahead of time when city driving. It weighs seven tons and needs 35 litres of gas to go 100KM. This translates to approximately 6.7 miles per gallon.

All of this makes up for one big, heavy, fuel guzzling vehicle that sticks out like a sore thumb in a crowd, unnecessary as it is awesome. Although we might never know how to acquire a former military vehicle in Russia, let alone how you can get one registered for the street, I am sure glad someone does.
