Craigslist Is The Last Place You'd Expect To See A Basically New 22-Year-Old Dodge Viper For Sale

Instead of an auction site like Bring A Trailer or Cars & Bids, this owner is going the sketchy, old school route by listing their Viper on Craigslist

Auction sites like Bring a Trailer have become the go-to place for owners to list their unique, rare, and often low-mileage cars for sale. What better way to get rid of a cool car than to have it go to the highest bidder, with tons of enthusiast eyes on it? Not everyone seems to want to do that, as evidenced by the owner of a low-mileage Dodge Viper who’s listing their car in a place you wouldn’t expect: Craigslist.

Found for sale on Craigslist in Phoenix, Arizona, this 2002 Dodge Viper GTS coupe is unique for a few reasons. For one, it’s damn near new, with the seller saying it has just 523 miles on it. Secondly it’s a unique spec, one that I can honestly say I’ve never encountered before. While the exterior is typical Viper red, the interior of this Viper is covered in Cognac leather, which, according to the seller, makes it even more rare.

In the description, the seller mentions that “only aprox 760 Viper GTS were made for 2002 and only about 3 dozen had Cognac interior.” I double checked those numbers to be sure and he looks like the seller is right. According to production figures pulled from The Viper Store, one of the largest Viper parts and accessories stores around, Dodge made 918 Viper GTS and ACRs for the 2002 model year, 873 of which were U.S. bound. 458 of them were red, and 36 of those received the Cognac interior. So it’s rare and the seller makes sure you know it, saying things like “Less than 32,000 total Vipers were made over a 25 year period. FYI That’s less than 1 year of production for a Corvette,” and that it’s a “museum quality piece.”

That last part is certainly true. There’s still plastic covering the seats, and a warning sticker for airbags hangs off the center console. The seller says that even the OEM battery is still wrapped in plastic. You’re going to have to dig deep in your account if you want to purchase this Viper, since the seller obviously knows what they have. They’re asking a cool $100,000, which honestly isn’t a bad price. This thing could easily go for way more on Cars & Bids or Bring a Trailer.
