Moonshine is, by its very nature, an illicit beverage. You can buy liquor similar in proof or taste to moonshine (like OTC Everclear) but actual moonshine itself is still illegal. Most types of moonshine are made in hidden stills out of cheap ingredients like sugar, corns, and fruits. The "hidden" part was at first to skirt prohibition, then taxes, and then just because some people still like moonshine. The taste is rough and the actual product is often more harmful than intoxicating. Despite the prohibited nature of moonshine, the seal for the town of Stokesdale actually features a still, which sort of explains the love of NASCAR in that part of the world. It seems a penchant for homemade liquor doesn't jive with a love of museums, though Van_Sarockin sees another reason for the low attendance at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

That's because the museum entrance is to the right of the parking lot.

Have a great weekend.
