The great thing about Edgar Wright's films, like Hot Fuzz and Shaun Of The Dead, is they manage to be genre spoofs that aren't spoofs at all. For one, the production values are better and there's never Carmen Electra. But it's more than that. Unlike a typical spoof, like Scary Movie, it isn't just a bunch of tropes tied together loosely with a plot. It's a real movie of the genre, not about the genre, that's just self aware. The characters understand the conventions of the films they're in, demonstrated when Nick Frost's character watches actions films in Hot Fuzz and plays Resident Evil in Shaun of the Dead. By doing this the viewer automatically relates to the characters. We, too, are aware of Bad Boys and would be similarly aware should we end up in shootout. We just wouldn't be so cool. Today you all went limerick crazy and, though many of them were super clever, we can't help but appreciate hotrodandcustomart's tribute to the limerick experience in limerick form, because it's not only a joke about them it also expresses the true value of Beckhem's TVR.

Hats off to all you intoxicated poets today. Also, to us, for inadvertently writing more posts about TVRs today than the unoffocial TVR blog.
