Today’s comment of the day shoutout goes out to everybody who said they weren’t impressed by that Honda Accord with 1,000,000 miles on it, because it was on its third engine. You guys are tough!
I’ll cite DopamineFiend here, since their comment came up first:
On one hand, I mean you’re not wrong–it would have been more of a testament to the stalwartness of technology if Dexter Mills’ 2000 Honda Accord had crossed the 1,000,000 mile threshold without having its engine replaced twice.
But guys, this is a love story. Some dude drove his Honda the distance to the moon, and back, and back, and back. I find that to be amazing and awesome. There can’t be more than a handful of privately owned passenger cars that have made it that far in the history of ever, and 300,000-plus miles out of an engine is a damn decent run.
That said, I respect the opinions of those of you who reserve the million-mile award for vehicles that cross the line with their original engine block. I hope my Acura is one of them some day. Happy weekending, start spinning those odometers!
