Clarkson on the Volvo C70 Convertible

Jeremy Clarkson is a man given to hyperbole. Once one understands that pretty much everything in his world is either "brilliant," "epic," "astonishing," "the dog's breakfast" or "rubbish," you can begin to crack the code. And cracking the code is part of the fun. The man they inexplicably call "Jezza" over in Blighty doesn't like the Volvo C70. Oh, he likes the styling. He likes the knock-down Ikea-compact roof. He likes the 220 horsepower from its turbo five-cylinder.

What he doesn't like is the torque-steer: "You can hold onto the wheel if you like, but frankly you may as well hold onto your knees or your passenger for all the good it ll do." Ultimately, the Top Gear presenter opines, "Volvo, plainly, has watched a television recipe for making a convertible. And then tried to copy it without going to the shops."
