Chris Harris Says The BMW i8 Is A High-Tech Stunner

I think the BMW i8 may be one of the most interesting cars of our time. The mid-engined hybrid sports car has 362 combined horsepower and can get 135 MPG on the European cycle. Neat, but what's it like to actually drive?

Fascinating, according to the latest /DRIVE review from our favorite hot shoe, Chris Harris. He comes away from this with an honest, nuanced and mostly positive review of the i8.

Things he liked? Torque fill, concept car looks, and the angry 911-ish sound from the turbocharged three-cylinder. Things he didn't like as much? It doesn't act like a psychotic, furious corner destroyer the way the vastly more expensive McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder or LaFerrari do. He also says it lacks a bit of a connection between man and machine.

Despite any flaws, he seems impressed with the car. If this is the future, we have something to look forward to.
