To beer or not to beer. Qingdao, China officials decided that the International Beer Festival is more important than the Izod IndyCar series race that was scheduled there for Aug. 19th.
Having looked at photos of the beer festival we think they may have made the right call.
Race promoters said they didn't have enough time to reschedule to a date that didn't interfere with a crazy beer fest or other events, prompting their decision to pull the plug. It would have been the first event of its kind in the city that hosted the 2008 Summer Olympics sailing race.
In its place, there's been talk that another race could could be held at Pennsylvania's Pocono International Raceway, or at the Texas Motor Speedway.
The series is on its way to a couple of stops in Canada, and has already raced in Brazil. Regardless of whether or not a new venue is chosen to fill the gap in this year's IndyCar schedule, there will be no race in Asia for the first time in a decade.
