Chevy's new ad for the Volt plug-in hybrid does something that might be a first in a national car commercial: It uses the word "crap."
Sure, it's not one of the seven dirty words, but it's certainly one I wasn't allowed to use as a kid. But in the 30-second spot, from ad agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, happy Volt owner "Priya" gushes about how rarely she has to stop at a gas station.

Then, at the end of the commercial, she blurts out: "You should get a Volt because it's going to save you a crapload of money."
A caption on the screen indicates she "meant" to say "boatload."
