The biggest news in the world of fictional cars was revealed tonight: the Canyonero now comes in hybrid form. This will likely be the biggest news in fictional cars for the rest of the year unless Honda says something about the new NSX at the LA Auto show. The Hybrid Canyonero gets up to 11 MPG!
That 11 MPG number is actually pretty impressive if the new 2014 Canyonero keeps its predecessor's generous dimensions and weight:
12 yards long, 2 lanes wide, 65 tons of American pride!
So, really, with those sorts of specs, 11 MPG is actually pretty respectable. The new model Canyonero was revealed via a background billboard in the most recent Simpson's episode, a Futurama/Simpsons crossover called Simpsorama.
The 2014 Hybrid Canyonero also seems to have gotten a significant facelift since the 1998 version that first appeared on The Simpsons, gaining a new headlight and grille treatment, and what appears to be a more stubbier SUV like stance and shape as opposed to the colossal Wagoneer-look of old.
As of press time, it's unclear if the Hybrid version still has the same unexplained fire issues, or how much of a squirrel-squashin', deer-smackin' driving machine it remains. Expect a full review as soon as we can get a press car from that guy Gil who always seems to be the salesguy in Springfield.
