We recently wrote about the inspiring and rather epic road trip of Jiří Hanzelka and Miroslav Zikmund, the two Czech engineers who drove across most of the world in a Tatra 87. Jalopnik reader John Long from Toronto was also familiar with Hanzelka’s and Zikmund’s story—and he was inspired on an entirely different level:
I too found the Z&H books and got all inspired to take my 1947 Tatra T87 on a big trip around North America. I called it the Three Ocean’s Tour and dipped the Tatra’s front tire in the three oceans surrounding North America, Atlantic, Pacific and most difficult Arctic Oceans.
John also happens to be a fantastic photographer, as you can see above. The top photo shows his Tatra on the majestic and desolate 457-mile Dempster Highway, which connects the Yukon with the Northwest Territories and has one gas station. The bottom photo was taken some distance away, in Boston. You can read about John’s adventure and see the rest of his beautiful pictures at Three Ocean’s Tour.
