I first heard this song in a nightclub in Barcelona, when I went traveling through Europe after college. After that, I heard it everywhere. Europeans couldn’t seem to get enough of it. Meanwhile, most Americans I meet have never heard of it.

I still don’t understand what the big deal is.

Boney M was the 70s version of Milli Vanilli - they too were produced by Frank Farian who in this case provided the male vocals himself. Bobby Farrell was cast as dancer and as a stand-in to lip-sync the vocals.
