A video has surfaced showing Top Gear's long-presumed-dead "Black Stig" emerging from the sea, setting off strong speculation the character will be revived following the recent unmasking of the "White Stig."

A press release that accompanied the video announced:

"until now, the original Stig from BBC Top Gear was thought to have been killed back in 2003, when he drove a modified Jaguar XJS off the end of HMS Invincible aircraft carrier at 109mph. . . The nation was shocked that the Stig was dead. However, recent footage has been found on YouTube showing that he miraculously survived."

The Black Stig was originally killed off when he drove off the end of an aircraft carrier in a Jaguar XJS at 109 MPH, or at least everyone thought he'd been killed off. With this apparent return from the dead, the Black Stig instantly catapults to the front of the line as a replacement for Ben Collins, who was recently unmasked as the famously faceless driver on the BBC's motoring show Top Gear. We love how Black Stig takes off for a quick turn at some slalom through the pier. [Times Online, BlackStigBack (Don't get excited, it's just the original video) ]
