• Once Lawrence's mother was actually detained by a Chrysler dealership -- and then she sued them for false imprisonment and breaching their own contract, and she won $25,000 for her trouble. The story was covered on Jalopnik and was one of the most read of the year.
• One experience Lawrence will never forget was being at the reveal of a new BMW race car in Los Angeles. This event was also attended by the legendary David Letterman who happened to be standing next to him during the reveal. David laughed at him during the presentation when he overheard his knee crack. The laugh wasn't in a mean way, but in a "boy did that hurt" way.
• Lawrence is also known for his extensive coverage of vehicle markups during the pandemic, when new vehicle inventories were tight and dealerships were taking advantage of the situation.

Experience

Lawrence has been writing for Jalopnik since October 2020. Before that, he was writing car blogs on a community based contribution website called OppositeLock. He wrote there from late 2014 right up until he started at Jalopnik in '20. Lawrence also briefly wrote for another automotive website called Right Foot Down in 2017.
