- Jason was the managing editor and editor-in-chief of RideApart.com from 2017 to 2023. During this time, he drastically increased daily traffic, improved editorial content, and expanded readership into India and Southeast Asia.
- For about eight years in the aughts, he apprenticed as a commercial and industrial photographer in Detroit. He photographed cars and motorcycles both in the studio and on location and worked with clients such as Harley-Davidson, Mazda, Ford, General Motors, Chrysler, and RM Auctions.
- As a hobby, Jason restores and sells Japanese motorcycles from the 70s and early 80s. He's restored around a dozen motorcycles so far, mostly small-displacement Hondas and Yamahas.
Experience
Jason has been a professional writer since 1999. In that time, he's been everything from a college newspaper reporter to the editor-in-chief of a major online motorcycle news and lifestyle publication. He's written automotive news, reported on local and state governments, reviewed motorcycles, written countless articles on motorcycle tech and history, and produced catalog content for Mecum Auctions. Along with his work as an automotive and motorcycle journalist, Jason has also had a long career as a writer and game designer in the tabletop role-playing game industry. He has worked professionally with IPs such as Star Wars, Warhammer 40K, and Robotech and has even published his own games under his Amalgamated Fiction Detroit imprint. Jason currently lives in Detroit, MI, and spends his time writing, parenting, wrenching, and fostering stray dogs.
Education
Jason is largely self-taught as a writer and editor. However, he did study English and creative writing at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park, Washtenaw Community College, and Eastern Michigan University. For what it's worth, he also carries a degree in culinary arts from Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Culinary Institute.
