Subaru has decided that their superb 2015 WRX isn't kickass enough, so they're coming out with an upgraded version. No, it's not the 2015 WRX STI, smartass. It's an even more high-tech model called... um, the Subaru WRX S4. Apparently.
Perhaps no one has told Subaru that there's this other company out there that makes turbocharged, all-wheel drive performance cars with a rally heritage and happens to be using that name. I guess we're about to see how good Ingolstadt's lawyers are!
Anyway, the WRX S4 will be introduced in Japan in August. According to a news release the name refers to four S's: "Sports performance", "Safety performance", "Smart driving" and "Sophisticated feel."
The car will also have the next-gen EyeSight system and "superior environmental friendliness" and "high-quality feel," Subaru says. I have no idea what they're talking about, but I can't wait for the next Audi comparison test.
