AMG GT, Corvette Stingray, 911 Or F-Type: Which Do You Choose?

"It's Mercedes' 911 fighter!" That's what everybody, including us, had to say about the debut of the Mercedes-AMG GT today. But the last time I checked, there are more than just two powerful, high-end sports cars in the world.

The AMG GT sounds like an extremely impressive machine, packing a twin-turbo V8 with either 456 or 503 horsepower. It also sports a sleek and eye-catching classic design, and while pricing hasn't been announced yet, its 911-fighter status makes me think it will be in the $100,000-ish range.

But you have some great choices in that ballpark. There's the Porsche 911, of course, which comes in every possible configuration under the sun. It's a classic and clearly what the AMG GT is gunning for here.

Then there's the Jaguar F-Type, especially the 550 horsepower F-Type Coupe R, which I think looks even better than the Mercedes. It starts at a smidge under $100,000 and should be a worthy competitor in terms of both noise and speed.

And if you don't feel like spending everything you've ever made on a car, there's the Corvette Stingray, which will come extremely well-equipped at $65,000. If you really want to shine them on, go for the new 650 horsepower Corvette Z06, which will start at just under $80,000 — both significantly cheaper and more powerful than the Europeans.

There are other choices in this field too, but these are my favorites. The question now is this: Which one do you drive home?
