Christopher Adam Tang, the driver known as "Afroduck" currently on trial in New York on charges of reckless endangerment and reckless driving for making the fastest lap around Manhattan last year, has disappeared as the jury nears its verdict.

Our Raphael Orlove is covering the case from a Manhattan Supreme Courtroom, where he reports that Tang, 32, failed to show up at all during proceedings today. Raphael says authorities claim Tang is not at his apartment, has not been arrested, nor has he fled on a plane as of yet.

The New York Daily News reports that a judge has issued a warrant for Tang's arrest and has ordered the trial to continue in his absence. The jury is currently deliberating his fate.

If convicted Tang could face up to a year in jail and possible deportation to his native Canada.
