Tanner Foust took the podium in Rallycross #2's competitive AWD class, but it was Matthew Johnson in a 1978 Ford Fairmont Wagon that stole our hearts, managing a crazy win in the 2WD class. Pure, V8-powered awesome.

It's not often you see a Ford Fairmont Wagon in any sort of racing event, but Matthew Johnson of the Nitro Circus team managed to pilot one to victory this weekend in the 2WD class over no less than a 200SX, Miata, 2WD Impreza, GTI, and Ford Focus.

The far-from-stock Fairmont Wagon was formerly a track car modified with a 348-cubic inch V8 and race suspension. A nice V8 sounds so much better than all those high strung fourbangers. Heroic.
