Two thieves in Orlando, Florida tried and failed to steal a yellow Corvette because they couldn't drive stick.
The thieves forced 51-year-old Randolph Bean out of his 2002 Corvette at gunpoint around 11 PM Tuesday night, reports UPI. Bean told local WOFL-TV how the thieves struggled, then fled when confronted with his car's third pedal.
They apparently couldn't start it. I had to tell him four different times to push in the clutch, because it's a standard transmission.
My first thought was I guess we don't have driver's ed in school anymore because no one knows how to drive a stick. And my second thing was, don't shoot me because you can't start the car. I'm trying to help you out here. You know. Thankfully they didn't.
Bean states that the two thieves ran off with his keys, phone, and wallet.
This kind of failed robbery thanks to a manual transmission is getting to be so common these days that a judge has recommended carjackers learn how to use the clutch.
