8.) The Enthusiast's Environmentalism

This Year I'll...: "After getting 26.3 mpg on my roadtrip, I decided I'm going to start hypermiling my car. This is also in reaction to possibly seeing $5 a gallon for gas."

7.) Car Photography

This Year I'll...: "... sell my extra car and get a Nikon digital SLR to shoot more car photos, and improve the quality of my automotive photography

6.) Save The 'Ring

This Year I'll...: be "Lapping my car on the Nürburgring."

5.) Dig What You Have

This Year I'll...: "Resist the temptation to buy a shiny new car.

While I could technically afford one, the fact of the matter is there's nothing wrong with the car I have."

4.) Speed Demons

This Year I'll...: "Go faster than I've ever gone before."

3.) Hit The Track

This Year I'll...: "Giving a 100% full effort to SOME race series this year, most likely my local AX. Make every event, every time, and make the most of it.

I still need to decide if I'm running street or race tire class, and if it's worth it or not to drop the $2k into a front CO conversion/tubular A-arms/tubular K-member before the season starts (local series has no provisions about suspension modifications)."

2.) Get It Done

This Year I'll...: "Get my '96 Mustang GT back in top form. 15 years of existence and 8 years of me daily driving it have slowly taken its toll.

Overall it's still in good shape and it runs great but it needs some attention here and there.

The driver seat is shot, there's a creak in the front suspension I haven't tracked down yet (maybe the inner tie-rods that the alignment guy said I was gonna need soon when I had tires put on recently, maybe a bushing that needs greasing) and there's some front wheel shuddering at certain speeds under braking that could be the tie-rods again or probably warped front rotors. Also, I'm not real happy with the shocks & spring combo I installed last year but that'll probably have to wait. Needs a good cleaning and waxing too.

The good news is I finally got new tires so I can drive in the rain and/or cold, and I fixed my exhaust so it no longer sounds like a 1974 Buick Electra mating with a B17."

1.) Buy Something Awesome

This Year I'll...: "I've become absolutely sick of drooling at and lusting after beautiful cars for so long.

This year, I'm done waiting. F*ck it.
F*ck saving money for a wedding.
F*ck saving money for real estate.
F*ck maxing out my 401k contributions.
F*ck it all, I'll worry about it later.

Chances are, I won't be able to afford it when those future expenses come in, especially the cost of kids—at least not until I get the magical six figure promotion.

One of the two is happening this summer:

1) Buy a muscle car.
2) Buy a trackable or rallyable car and start racing.

Call it stupid, call it irresponsible, call it a pre-midlife midlife crisis. I don't care.
