All the cars in the second-annual 24 Hours of LeMons South Spring race were trailered to a field about a mile from downtown Camden, then given a police escort into town.

Some of the locals were a bit puzzled by the sight, but it wasn't long before the block-long BS Inspection turned into a huge block party, complete with food vendors, a band, and plenty of baksheesh for the judges.

We were probably a bit too lenient on many of the cars, but that's how it works when you're doing inspections during a huge outdoor party.

When it was all over, we headed back to internet-equipped Carolina Motorsports Park, so that I could share these photos of the chaos for y'all. Naturally, several teams were repairing parts they broke during practice laps earlier in the day; here's a transmission destined for a 16-valve Volvo 740 sedan.

Okay, now i'm just mad. Some of those cars (and wheels for that matter) are worth more than the $500 rule. Something needs to be done to stop the senseless slaughter of fine machinery.
