Hold on to your snapbacks Subaroos, because there’s big changes coming. After years and years of holding out for a more powerful model, the 2019 Subaru BRZ is finally getting a new special edition that puts the power down! Oh wait, no, I’m reading, no, actually it’s just another paint color.
We’ve been teasing the Subaru BRZ and its Toyota twin now called the 86 ever since they debuted for being a little down on horsepower, but the automaker just refuses to commit to shocking the world with anything more than color trims on its 205 HP sports car.
And that still hasn’t changed for the 2019 model year, as Subaru has just announced a limited run of 250 Series.Gray edition BRZs. The new Cool Gray Khaki available on the Limited BRZ trim car is similar to the Japan-only limited BRZ STI model from a year ago, which also didn’t get any added power so don’t get jealous.
The Series.Gray also gets the performance package box checked automatically, special red stitching inside, as well as upgraded Brembo brakes, Sachs sport shocks and 17-inch black wheels.
What it doesn’t get, sadly, is 300 horsepower—the correct amount of horsepower. All hope is lost.
